ABOUT US

New name, same coaches. Same passion for Tennis
Pete Taylor, Head Coach at WTC has been delivering tennis lessons at Whites Lane Tennis Club for 10+ years. While we have changed names a couple times, its still the same coaching and teaching methods that have made the coaching program so popular at Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club.
Waverley is a full service tennis management company for all levels of play. We specialize in all tennis coaching from the Tennis Australia starter program called Hot Shots to Tournament travel for elite juniors and professionals. Our team of coaches are committed to creating community interest in the game of tennis through in schools Hot Shots programs as well as club based term and yearly programs.
Hot Shots – Our Signature Program
Hot Shots is fun, social and active. And it’s the easiest way for primary school kids to learn how to play tennis. The courts and racquets are smaller, the balls don’t bounce as high so they’re easier to hit and kids love it.
Developed by coaching professionals, this program is Tennis Australia’s official kids starter program and promotes the use of smaller courts and slower balls to teach children how to play tennis.
Kids progress through three stages – Red, Orange and Green – as their ability improves. This approach to teaching kids tennis is also recommended by the International Tennis Federation.
Hot Shots Classes
Monday – 3:45 to 4:30pm
Tuesday – 3:45 to 4:30pm, 5:15 to 6:00pm & 6:15 to 7:00pm
Wednesday – 3:45 to 4:30pm & 6:15 to 7:00pm
Thursday – 3:45 to 4:30pm, 5:30 to 6:15pm & 6:15 to 7:00pm
Friday – 4:00 to 4:45pm
The 3 Main Stages of Hot Shots
Hot Shots – Red Ball
The Red stage is for beginners. The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25 per cent compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit it comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller and easier for kids to move around.
Hot Shots – Orange Ball
After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50 per cent compression) and the court is a bit bigger. This is the most common stage as these balls are so good to play tennis with!
Hot Shots – Green
The ball used in the Green stage bounces higher and faster than the orange ball and children play on a full-size court.

Our Club: Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club

Located in the heart of Glen Waverley, just minutes from the Monash freeway (Springvale road exit). Whites Lane TC has 6 premium en-tous-cas courts with 6 of them lit, a roomy clubhouse, double bbq and pergola area that provides a great scene for social gatherings and functions. The surrounding park areas provide great access to fitness specific training for players to take their game to the next level. Junior competition at Whites Lane TC is growing very strongly yet we are always on the lookout for new comp players.
Whites Lane TC joins with Mulgrave Country Club to make Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club. Forward thinking committees on both sides have come up with a solution that will make Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club a destination club that will be strongly supported for many years to come.
These changes will come into effect from April 1st 2018, in support of an agreement that the club has entered into with the Mulgrave Country Club to be their partner tennis club. This means that Mulgrave Country Club members that choose membership of the tennis section will be playing at the newly named “Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club”.
